Color, Style, & Lifestyle Trends In 2015

As you probably already know, the color of the year is Marsala  (a sort of Cinnamon-Indian Red…Pantone 18-1438 TCX.) But when you choose colors for your home, think long term…unless you want a Marsala-colored roof.  Benjamin Moore’s 2015 color is Guilford Green HC-116.

But, what is right for YOU?

We recommend that when you color and fashion your home, you begin with your lifestyle.  For many active people, that includes exercise facilities, sports areas, business offices and places to show travel mementos.  Think swimming pools (indoor or outdoor), equipment/weightlifting rooms, golf training and viewing rooms, tennis courts, basketball courts, etc.  Also, libraries, studies, multi-media rooms, home theaters, and art niches for pottery and/or small statues…all are in demand.

Exercise rooms tend to be plain, featuring plenty of natural light, with at least one wall-mounted, big screen TV. Also consider speakers for plenty of music.

Offices of all sorts, including the most advanced and tech-savvy ones, tend to be filled with wood, and are sometimes paneled.  Wood is naturally warm, comforting and relaxing, and after a few hours of watching numbers race across a computer monitor, everyone needs a soft landing!  In our fast-paced, Internet-driven world, think about your home as a sanctuary for living human beings.

Your warmth, comfort and emotional calm need to be considered.  It’s your home; it’s your life.
